Local sources in Herat say a 30-year-old man was allegedly tortured and beaten before being shot in the fourth district of Herat city while his hands were tied behind his back.
According to the sources, the incident took place on Friday afternoon last week in the “Post Number One” area, in front of a fuel station in Herat city. The sources identified the young man as Abdul Qadir Pahlawan-Zada and said he was shot by armed individuals affiliated with the Taliban.
In a video, a young man can be seen being shot by an armed individual after allegedly being tortured and beaten, while his hands are tied.
The sources have claimed that Seyed Ahmad Mohammadi, the Taliban police chief of Pashtun Zarghun District, was present at the scene along with his brother and brother-in-law. They also alleged that the killing was carried out by one of the individuals close to the commander.
Relatives of the young man say that if Abdul Qadir had committed a crime in the Taliban’s view, he should have been arrested and referred to judicial authorities rather than being shot in public with his hands tied. The young man’s mother has also called on senior Taliban officials to investigate the case involving her son.
Previously, local sources had also reported that one person was killed in Herat city on Friday.
