Direct flights between Herat and Dubai have resumed after a suspension of around five years. Kam Air launched flights on this route on Tuesday, 27 October 2026.

Rahmatullah Khalil, head of finance and administration at Khwaja Abdullah Ansari International Airport in Herat, welcomed the move and expressed hope that flights to other destinations, including Turkey and Iran, would also be launched from the airport in the future.

According to the schedule announced by Kam Air, direct flights between Herat and Dubai will operate once a week, on Tuesdays. Return flights from Dubai to Herat are also included in the schedule.

The resumption of these flights could make travel easier for passengers, businesspeople and families travelling between Herat and Dubai. Given its geographical location and role in regional trade, Herat holds particular importance for air connectivity in western Afghanistan.

Since 2021, many of Afghanistan’s international flight routes have faced reductions or suspensions. The resumption of direct flights between Herat and Dubai could mark a step towards restoring and expanding the province’s air connections.
