About Us
Panah Press is an independent, impartial, and non-profit media organization owned and led by Afghan journalists.
From the earliest days of its establishment, at a time when many women and girls in Afghanistan were deprived of their right to education, Panah Press sought to amplify their voices by documenting their challenges, aspirations, and lived experiences. It has provided a platform for women whose perspectives could not be freely expressed under prevailing restrictions.
Due to increasing restrictions and censorship targeting journalists and media organizations in Afghanistan, Panah Press is headquartered outside the country. Working with a network of Afghan journalists based in Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye, Canada, and other countries, we provide accurate, responsible, and professional coverage of developments in Afghanistan and the wider region.
Panah Press was founded with the mission of delivering accurate, credible, and balanced information. We believe that access to reliable information is a cornerstone of public awareness and social development. Our reporting is guided by editorial independence and the principles of ethical journalism, free from political, ethnic, or ideological bias.
Our content is published in Persian (Dari) and English, and includes news, reports, interviews, analysis, and multimedia content to ensure that audiences both inside and outside Afghanistan have access to trustworthy and up-to-date information.
In addition to its journalistic work, Panah Press is committed to developing the next generation of Afghan journalists. The organization has launched several training initiatives, including free three-month online journalism courses designed especially for women and aspiring journalists, helping them strengthen their professional skills and advance their careers.
Panah Press does not receive financial support from governments, political parties, or foreign organizations. Our limited operating expenses are funded by the organization's founder and through modest individual donations. A large number of our contributors also volunteer their time and expertise, demonstrating a strong commitment to independent journalism and public service.
The Panah Press team consists of a new generation of Afghan journalists dedicated to reporting with accuracy, integrity, and a strong sense of social responsibility. Beyond reporting the news, we are committed to promoting transparency, accountability, freedom of expression, human rights, justice, and public awareness. Through responsible journalism, we strive to foster informed dialogue and contribute to a more aware and hopeful future for Afghanistan.
