Juma Khan Fateh, a dissident Taliban commander, surrendered to Taliban forces following clashes with the group’s fighters in Nusay District of Badakhshan and was transferred to Faizabad today by a Taliban helicopter.
A local source said that, alongside Fateh’s transfer, the disarmament of forces under his command was also continuing in the Qoghuz area. According to the source, individuals affiliated with Juma Khan Fateh gathered in the area and were handing over their weapons to Taliban forces who had traveled there together with the Taliban-appointed district governor.
Meanwhile, a Taliban fighter speaking in a video recorded during Fateh’s transfer said that Juma Khan Fateh had surrendered and that Taliban special forces had forced him to surrender.
Another Taliban fighter, in a video recording, showed the vehicle carrying Juma Khan Fateh and said that he had surrendered to Taliban forces.
