A video circulating on social media shows a man saying that he went to Taliban-controlled Police District 18 in Kabul yesterday to address a legal case, but was beaten during the visit by a person whose identity and name he does not know.
In the video, the man says he had been instructed to appear at a specific time and arrived at Police District 18 at around 2:30 to 3 p.m. According to him, the opposing party was not present when he arrived and appeared only moments before the official working hours ended.
He says that before any decision was made regarding the legal case, a person he did not know, whom he said had come in place of the official responsible for Police District 18, beat him.
The citizen, criticizing the incident, asks whether there is any authority in Afghanistan under Taliban rule to fairly address such cases and legal complaints. He says that if “force” has replaced law and justice, he is prepared, even in the face of serious consequences, to risk his life and defend his rights.
Meanwhile, cases of injustice, violent treatment, and beatings of citizens by Taliban members have been reported in the media and on social media.
