A new video released from Nuristan province shows armed men identifying themselves as members of the Afghanistan Freedom Front and standing near a military outpost.
In the video, one of the armed men claims that the outpost is located in a mountainous area of Nuristan province and was captured by four Afghanistan Freedom Front fighters.
Fighting between Taliban forces and individuals affiliated with the Afghanistan Freedom Front began early Saturday in parts of Nuristan and, according to published claims, continued through Tuesday.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front had previously claimed that it captured several Taliban military bases in Nuristan and also shot down or destroyed several drones belonging to the group.
The video was released as both sides in the conflict have made differing claims about the extent of their advances and the casualties inflicted on the opposing side.
The Taliban claimed that 28 opposition fighters were killed and 32 others wounded during the clashes.
In response, the Afghanistan Freedom Front claimed that 37 Taliban members were killed and 24 others wounded. The front also released images of the bodies of armed individuals, claiming that they were killed during the clashes.
However, the claims by both sides regarding the number of casualties, the capture of military bases, and the extent of damage inflicted have not been independently verified.
