A Taliban media figure who calls himself “General Mobin” has said in a video that he does not allow his wife, despite being a doctor, to leave the house and continue her professional work.

He added that his wife now spends her time doing household chores, including kneading dough, sweeping, and cleaning, while he covers her living expenses.

According to the media outlet, Mobin’s wife expressed concern about patients who need female doctors for treatment. In response, Mobin said that Chinese doctors could be brought to Afghanistan to treat patients.

These remarks come as women’s access to education, employment, and healthcare in Afghanistan faces widespread restrictions, while female doctors play a particularly important role in meeting women’s healthcare needs.

General Mobin has also married for the third time.
