Soraya Roshan, a member of the Purple Saturdays Movement, has criticized the Taliban’s university entrance examination (Kankor), stating that an exam conducted without the participation of women has no legal, constitutional, or moral legitimacy.
In a video message, Roshan said that excluding women from higher education and holding a gender-exclusive Kankor examination makes the process, like the Taliban’s rule itself, “illegitimate and unacceptable.” She argued that depriving girls of their right to education and higher learning is a clear violation of the fundamental rights of Afghanistan’s citizens and cannot serve as the basis for a fair and legitimate education system.
The Purple Saturdays Movement, under the slogan “No to the Taliban’s Kankor, No to Gender-Exclusive Kankor,” has called for an end to restrictions on women’s education and demanded the restoration of equal access to education for all citizens.
