As part of a global wave of demonstrations in solidarity with Afghan women, protest gatherings took place in Barcelona, Madrid, and Bilbao, Spain.
Organizers said the events were coordinated with dozens of similar demonstrations held in more than 32 cities around the world.
The purpose of these rallies was to support women’s rights, human rights, and justice, while protesting what organizers described as the “systematic oppression of Afghan women and citizens by the Taliban.”
Civil society activists and members of the Afghan community in Spain emphasized that these demonstrations are part of a global effort to amplify the voices of Afghan women and draw international attention to the human rights situation in Afghanistan.
