Who is Fasihuddin Fitrat?
Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat (Mohammad Fasihuddin Fitrat) is a senior Taliban military commander and one of the influential figures within the group. He is originally from Warduj district of Badakhshan province and is Tajik by ethnicity. After the Taliban returned to power in 2021, he was appointed as the Taliban’s Chief of Army Staff and is considered one of the highest-ranking military officials of the group.
