Faisal Karim Kundi, governor of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, reacted to recent remarks by Taliban officials about Peshawar, urging them to refrain from making “foolish and provocative” statements that, he said, undermine the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a post on X, Kundi wrote: “Taliban officials in Afghanistan should refrain from making foolish and provocative statements that undermine the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
He added: “Peshawar does not belong to them for them to threaten it. Afghanistan should learn from India.”
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor also said Pakistan’s armed forces had previously defended the country’s sovereignty and would continue to defend “every inch of Pakistani soil” in the future.
Kundi emphasized that the people, government, and armed forces of Pakistan are united, and that no threat can shake their resolve or weaken their commitment to defending Pakistan.
The reaction came after Noorullah Noori, the Taliban’s Minister of Borders, Tribal and Ethnic Affairs, said that if the “Islamic Emirate” wanted, it could raise its flag in Peshawar within two days.
