Taliban forces and members of the Afghanistan Freedom Front clashed early Wednesday, October 7, in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province. Nusratullah Fateh, spokesperson for the Afghanistan Freedom Front, confirmed the clash.
According to reports, the Taliban attacked the front’s positions with drones and faced resistance from Afghanistan Freedom Front forces using heavy weapons. So far, the Taliban have not officially commented on the clash, and no reports of casualties on either side have been published.
The clash comes several days after the previous round of fighting in Kamdesh. The Afghanistan Freedom Front said that during clashes from September 26 to 29, it captured several Taliban checkpoints in Kamdesh and Nari district of Kunar and killed 37 Taliban members. The Taliban Ministry of Defense also announced on September 29 that 41 armed opponents had been killed during an operation in Kamdesh and that the operation had ended. The claims made by both sides have not been independently verified.
