Iran’s exports to Pakistan have been temporarily halted due to problems caused by banking sanctions, while imports from Pakistan to Iran continue.
Payman Sanandaji, head of the Transport Commission of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, has rejected reports that a border crossing between Iran and Pakistan has been closed, saying that the two countries’ shared land border remains open for trade.
Speaking to Mehr News Agency, he added that Pakistani importers must submit an electronic import form to their banking network to import goods from Iran. This process has faced difficulties due to sanctions on Iranian banks.
According to Sanandaji, these banking restrictions have created problems for Iran’s exports to Pakistan and for Pakistani importers who source the goods they need from Iran.
