Also, according to media reports, two days ago, an eight-year-old girl in Helmand was married to an 80-year-old man in exchange for a “large sum of money.” The 8am newspaper also reported that the incident occurred in Nad Ali district of Helmand, and the Taliban’s Information and Culture Directorate in Helmand said that the marriage had been annulled.

According to Etilaatroz, local Taliban officials in Helmand said that after becoming aware of the two cases, they annulled the marriages and reminded the families of the rights of children.
