The first international meeting of Afghan Turkmen youth was held on August 28 and 29, 2026, in the Cappadocia region of the Republic of Türkiye, with the participation of nearly 40 students, women and girls, specialists, and members of Afghanistan’s Turkmen academic and civil society community.

During the two-day meeting, participants discussed and exchanged views on structured, scientific, and practical approaches for the future of Afghanistan’s Turkmen community through 2050. Speakers from the new generation of Afghan Turkmen emphasized the importance of creating and expanding scientific, educational, and civil programs both inside and outside the country.

According to published reports, the meeting also addressed the role of education and youth participation in shaping the future of Afghanistan’s Turkmen community. Organizers said that the new generation of Afghan Turkmen, particularly in recent years, has shown greater interest in pursuing higher education abroad.

According to figures presented by civil and student organizations, nearly 20,000 Turkmen students, including both girls and boys, are studying at universities in Türkiye, Europe, and the United States. This figure has not been independently verified by separate sources.

The meeting was organized at the initiative of Afghan Turkmen youth and the United Turkmenistan Ambassadors Association (TÜBEL), in cooperation with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) of the Republic of Türkiye.
