Seyed Bilal Fatemi, a political analyst, reacted strongly to Iran’s invitation of Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, and Mohammad Mohaqiq, leader of the People’s Islamic Unity Party of Afghanistan, to attend the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei.
In his remarks, Fatemi called on Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar to end his visit to Iran and leave the country in protest over the invitation extended to the two Afghan political figures. He also warned Iranian authorities, saying they should “not play a double game with Afghans.”
Without providing any evidence, Fatemi further alleged that Mohammad Mohaqiq had received one million US dollars from Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, one week earlier to “destabilize Afghanistan.” This allegation has not been independently verified, and Mohaqiq has not publicly responded.
Fatemi also criticized and insulted Ahmad Massoud and Mohammad Mohaqiq, claiming that they “have no role” in Afghanistan’s political landscape.
