Symbolic depiction of violence against Hazaras.
The Afghan Women’s Movement in Exile held an event in Pakistan titled “Stop the Hazara Genocide,” calling for practical measures and legal follow-up to recognize what the organizers refer to as the “genocide of Hazaras.”
The event was held on September 25 and attended by a number of human rights activists, political, cultural, and social figures, as well as members of the Afghan Women’s Movement in Exile.
During the event, several girls from the Afghan Women’s Movement in Exile performed songs to express their solidarity with the victims of violence against Hazaras. A play and a documentary focusing on events related to September 25 and the situation of Hazaras were also presented.
Farzana Rezaei, founder of the Afghan Women’s Movement in Exile, said at the event that Hazaras have faced discrimination and targeted killings because of their ethnic identity during different periods and, in her view, these events constitute genocide.
