Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, has called on religious scholars from districts and urban areas of Kandahar province to work on strengthening the spirit of “obedience” among themselves and the public.
According to the published report, Akhundzada said at the meeting: “Try to strengthen the spirit of obedience both among yourselves and among the people, so that unity becomes stronger and the doors of discord are closed.”
He also stated that, in his view, a “Sharia-based system” has been established in Afghanistan and that allegiance to the “legitimate leader” was achieved through jihad and with the agreement of Muslims. He urged religious scholars to maintain unity, mutual trust, and cooperation to prevent divisions.
The Taliban leader further called on religious scholars to fully cooperate with the group, discourage people from what he described as “trivial matters,” work on awareness and ideological guidance, and explain Taliban laws to the public.
Since the Taliban returned to power, Hibatullah Akhundzada has repeatedly emphasized obedience to his directives and allegiance to the Taliban leadership. Meanwhile, the Taliban government has not been officially recognized by the majority of countries around the world.
