Local sources in Parwan province say that the Taliban have arrested six people, including two former police officers, from the village of Lalma-Sabzak in Salang district of the province.
These individuals were arrested by the Taliban at night approximately six days ago.
According to reports, two of those arrested, Rais-Agha Salangi and Nasrullah, had served in the police force under the previous government. The four other individuals have been identified as Sharif, Mohammad-Agha, Mirwais, and Sohrab.
According to media reports, the six individuals are currently being held at the Taliban’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate in the city of Charikar. Sources also said that the families of those arrested are concerned about their situation and do not have accurate information about their whereabouts or fate.
Sources claim that the Taliban arrested these individuals on charges of attacking one of the group’s checkpoints. However, they insist that the detainees are civilians and have no connection to any political or military group opposed to the Taliban. These claims have not yet been officially confirmed or denied by the Taliban.
The report of these arrests comes as Taliban intelligence operations in Salang district have also been reported. In one such operation, Hasib Panjshiri, a senior commander of the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud, was killed along with two others, while 10 other people were reportedly arrested.
