The Supreme Council of the People of Afghanistan in Exile has issued a statement expressing concern over the ongoing forced deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan and has called for the immediate suspension of the process.
According to the statement, a large number of Afghan refugees—including former government personnel, human rights defenders, journalists, civil society activists, and other individuals who fled Afghanistan due to serious security threats—are currently living in severe legal, administrative, economic, and psychological uncertainty.
The council urged the Government of Pakistan to immediately halt the forced deportation of Afghan refugees. It also called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and refugee-receiving countries to accelerate the processing of refugee cases and resettlement procedures while ensuring the safety, dignity, and protection of those at risk.
The council further appealed to media organizations, human rights groups, and the public to amplify the voices of Afghan refugees and support efforts to protect their rights.
