Mohammad Farid Hamidi, the former Attorney General of Afghanistan, has said in response to reports about the temporary takeover of Yiftal-e-Payin district in Badakhshan province by the “Homeland Defenders Front” that the incident has challenged the Taliban’s claim of being invincible.
Mr. Hamidi stated in a message published by him: “The capture of Yiftal-e-Payin district shattered the spell of the claim of nationwide control and the myth of the Taliban’s invincibility, who came to power through the Doha agreement and not through a legitimate process.”
He also added that this incident carries three important lessons, but did not provide further details about them.
These remarks come as reports have recently emerged about clashes in Yiftal-e-Payin district of Badakhshan and the temporary control of the district by the group known as the “Homeland Defenders Front.”
