Parwan – A man lost his life on Thursday after drowning while attempting to rescue his child from a canal associated with a development project in Police District 2 of Charikar, the capital of Parwan Province.

The Taliban's Police Command in Parwan confirmed the incident, stating that the man's child was successfully rescued from the water and survived.

According to statistics released by the Taliban's Disaster Management Authority, at least 148 people have drowned in Afghanistan's rivers and canals over the past year. The victims include 66 children and 11 women.
