Global Campaign “HELP AFGHAN WOMEN” Launched by the Window of Hope Women’s Movement of Afghanistan

Five Years of Gender Apartheid; Five Years of Resistance

As Afghanistan approaches the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power, the Window of Hope Women’s Movement of Afghanistan has launched the global “HELP AFGHAN WOMEN” campaign through a symbolic protest and the release of a campaign video.

The campaign aims to amplify the voices of Afghan women, mobilize international support, and call for urgent global action to end what the movement describes as gender apartheid and widespread human rights violations in Afghanistan.

As part of the symbolic protest, a group of women stood behind iron bars, representing the prison that, according to the organizers, the Taliban have created for millions of Afghan women and girls. Raising their hands to display the word “HELP,” they called on the international community to show solidarity, provide support, and take meaningful action.

The Window of Hope Women’s Movement states that this symbolic gesture reflects the voices of millions of Afghan women who have been deprived of their fundamental rights, including the rights to education, employment, freedom, security, and participation in public life.

According to the statement, since 15 August 2021, the Taliban have issued numerous restrictive decrees that have systematically excluded women from education, social life, the economy, and politics. The movement emphasizes that Afghanistan is now the only country in the world where girls are denied access to secondary and higher education.

The protest featured slogans including “15 August 2021–2026: With the Taliban’s Return, Human Rights Collapsed,” “Stop the Killing of Women,” “Justice, Not Revenge,” and “Women’s Rights Are Human Rights,” reflecting the demands of millions of Afghan women for freedom, justice, and human dignity.

The Window of Hope Women’s Movement of Afghanistan calls on the United Nations, governments, parliaments, human rights organizations, international media, and people of conscience around the world to join the “HELP AFGHAN WOMEN” campaign, amplify the voices of Afghan women, and take effective and immediate action to end gender apartheid, hold the Taliban accountable, and provide practical support for Afghan women and girls.

The statement concludes:

“The hands of Afghan women, bearing the word ‘HELP,’ are raised toward the world. Now it is the international community’s turn to see this message, hear it, and respond.”
