Abdullah Rahimi, a former member of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Ghor Province, was killed by unidentified gunmen on Saturday, 20 Saratan (July 11), in Taywara District.
According to local sources, armed men riding motorcycles entered a mosque near his home and opened fire on him while he was performing prayers. Rahimi died at the scene.
During the previous Afghan government, Rahimi served as the NDS director for Taywara District before later working at the Ghor Provincial NDS office. He was also a former jihadi commander and was considered a close associate of Mohammad Ibrahim Malekzada, a former jihadi commander.
Rahimi is the third former security official to be killed in Ghor Province within the past month. In recent weeks, several former military officers and government officials have been targeted and killed in similar attacks in Ghor and the neighboring province of Herat.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the Taliban authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
