Armed Robbery in Broad Daylight; Serious Questions Raised About Claims of “Nationwide Security”
While the Taliban continue to claim that they have ensured “nationwide security” across Afghanistan, the occurrence of armed robberies in the capital has once again cast doubt on those assertions.
According to published reports, armed thieves in the Ahmad Shah Baba Mina area of Kabul forcibly stole two mobile phones from a young man in broad daylight and in full view of bystanders before fleeing the scene.
The incident comes at a time when residents of Kabul and several other cities have repeatedly complained about a rise in street crime, insecurity, and weak law enforcement. Many citizens say the gap between official narratives and the reality of daily life is becoming increasingly evident.
Critics argue that security cannot be measured solely by political control. Rather, genuine security exists only when citizens can move freely through their cities without fear of robbery, violence, or street crime.
