Local sources in Badakhshan Province say that a vehicle carrying three passengers was trapped under a landslide in Shahr-e Buzurg District.
According to the sources, local residents made extensive efforts and successfully rescued the passengers from beneath the debris. Reports indicate that all three individuals survived the incident without serious injuries.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the poor condition of roads in Badakhshan. Residents say that many of the province’s roads continuously pose risks to travelers due to inadequate infrastructure, frequent landslides, and the lack of protective measures.
This comes as Badakhshan is one of Afghanistan’s provinces rich in valuable natural resources, including gold mines, where extraction activities continue. However, some residents argue that revenues generated from these natural resources have not yet had a significant impact on improving the province’s infrastructure and road network.
