A video circulating on social media shows an Afghan citizen complaining about what he describes as an armed intrusion into his home, physical assault, and violent treatment by a Taliban military official.
The man, who identifies himself in the video as “Obaidullah, son of Mohammad Latif” from Yamgan district of Badakhshan province, claims that at around midnight, a man named “Qari Ghufran, son of Mullah Qurban,” whom he identifies as the criminal affairs chief of the district police command, forcibly entered his home carrying a Kalashnikov.
He says that after the man entered, he took up a weapon to defend himself, but Qari Ghufran allegedly overpowered him, dragged him along the ground for about five minutes, and took him away. According to the citizen, when he began shouting and calling for help from local residents, the alleged attacker was forced to release him.
In the published video, visible injuries can be seen on the man’s head, face, and hands. In his statements, he accuses the Taliban of intimidation, oppression, and violating the law, and calls for the incident to be investigated.
