Residents of Kabul say that the ban on displaying Afghanistan's tricolor national flag has not diminished people's attachment to it. Instead, they believe public affection for the flag has grown stronger.
They added, "Whenever we see the tricolor flag at a sporting event or an international gathering, tears come to our eyes. Perhaps this is the strongest sign of our genuine love for our national flag."
The tricolor Afghan flag has continued to appear at a number of international meetings and events. Among them was a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Islamabad, where Afghanistan's national flag was displayed alongside the flags of other member states.
