The United States House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill aimed at limiting President Donald Trump’s authority to engage in military action against Iran.
The measure was approved by a vote of 214 to 208, with four Republican lawmakers joining Democrats in supporting the legislation. Under the bill, the U.S. president must cease the use of American armed forces in hostilities against Iran unless Congress authorizes the continuation of military operations.
The legislation was introduced by Democratic Representative Pramila Jayapal of Washington State.
