The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, described the reported Houthi drone attack near the Saudi city of Mecca as a “matter of deep concern.”

The ministry said it condemns any action against the Two Holy Mosques and Islamic holy sites.

The Taliban’s reaction came after reports of a Houthi drone attack near Mecca. The Houthis are among the Iran-backed groups in Yemen.

Houthis Reject Claims of Targeting Mecca

Houthi officials have rejected claims that the group targeted the Saudi city of Mecca.

Hazam al-Asad, a member of the Houthi political office, called the allegations an “old and repeated lie.” Yahya Saree, the group’s military spokesperson, also said that Houthi operations do not target holy sites and that the targets of these operations have included Saudi oil facilities and military bases.
