Afghan Student Maqdas Mohibi Shines in Harmony Public Schools Visual Arts Competition
Afghan student Maqdas Mohibi achieved remarkable success in the Harmony Public Schools Visual Arts Competition, excelling at every stage of the contest and earning some of its highest honors.
At a time when thousands of talented girls in Afghanistan are being deprived of educational opportunities and the chance to develop their talents due to restrictions imposed by the Taliban, Maqdas Mohibi’s achievements abroad serve as a powerful example of the potential and capabilities of Afghan girls. Given equal access to education and opportunities, Afghan girls can excel in academic, cultural, and artistic fields on a global level.
In the first stage of the competition, her artwork was selected as the Best Painting at the School Level, earning her the title of School-Level Painting Winner at Harmony Science Academy Carrollton.
Her artwork then advanced to the North Texas District Competition, where she competed against students from various Harmony schools and won the title of North Texas Middle School District Painting Champion.
Following this success, her artwork qualified for the final statewide round of the competition, which featured participants from more than 60 Harmony schools across Texas.
In the final stage, Maqdas’s artwork was selected as the best overall artwork among all participants, earning her the highest distinction of the competition: HPS System-Level Grand Champion Artist.
In addition to her artistic accomplishments, Maqdas was recognized for her academic excellence and earned the AB Honor Roll distinction for outstanding grades and educational achievement.
She also excelled in STEAM education and Project-Based Learning (PBL). Her scientific project was selected as the Best School Project, and she received the STEAM Cup in recognition of her creativity, innovation, and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
These achievements demonstrate that Afghan girls, when provided with access to education and equal opportunities, are capable of reaching the highest levels of academic, artistic, and cultural success.
