Abbas Aliabadi, Iran’s Minister of Energy, has arrived in Kabul for talks with Taliban officials on cooperation in the water and electricity sectors.

The two-day visit will include meetings between Aliabadi and a number of senior Taliban officials. The talks are aimed at bilateral cooperation in the water and electricity sectors.

Iran’s Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported that meetings with senior Taliban officials and discussions on energy-related issues are the main focus of the visit.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Aliabadi is also scheduled to visit the fifth Imam Abu Hanifa International Exhibition in Kabul. The exhibition opened on Wednesday and, according to Taliban officials, more than 300 domestic and foreign companies are participating.

Representatives from several regional countries are also attending the exhibition, including Uzbekistan, India, Turkmenistan, and Turkey.

The Iranian energy minister’s visit to Kabul comes as Tehran had previously announced its readiness to supply up to 2,000 megawatts of Afghanistan’s electricity needs.
