Hafiz Mansoor, a member of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, has criticized Ahmad Massoud’s leadership style in a recent interview, saying that he sees no difference between Massoud and Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada in terms of accountability.

Speaking to Amu TV, Mansoor said that just as Hibatullah Akhundzada is not accountable to the people, Ahmad Massoud also lacks the necessary accountability for his decisions and actions.

He added that over the past five years, he had worked with Ahmad Massoud and supported the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan out of necessity, as he put it, but that his patience has now run out.

The National Resistance Front member stressed that institutions and movements that speak of democracy must first establish a culture of accountability within their own structures and practices.

Mansoor’s criticism comes amid recent reports of disagreements among members of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan over its leadership style and decision-making process.

On Friday, October 9, Amu TV published an interview with Hafiz Mansoor and reported that he had suspended his cooperation with the offices of the National Resistance Front.

Earlier, there had also been reports that some members of the front were calling for the establishment of a council-based leadership structure and greater accountability from Ahmad Massoud.
